Nevis students, second grade through high school, have visual
arts classes, offering opportunities in drawing, painting,
printmaking, sculpture, pottery, photography, digital design,
video editing, mixed-mediums, and above all, creative thinking!
Our students have a long history of winning art awards, including
Best of Show awards at the regional Minnesota State High School
League Art Festival and Competition, the highest MSHSL Art
Award in the state.
An after-school Art Club for grades 9-12 is also offered, as
well as the college course Color and Design for qualifying
junior and senior students for three University of Minnesta
humanities credits. We have on-going student art on display
in the school, two exhibits within Nevis School a year, and we
participate in two regional Spring Art competitions. Every
school year, high school Art students and Art Club members
go on a field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the
Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.
